East meets west

Log start: 10:53pm February 4th 2009

HALT! I know what you're thinking. No, this is not a chinese cooking show.

Instead of cooking, i have to compare two nationalities; China and US.
I am a chinese person who was born in the US, like other ABCs (American Born Chinese) most of us know jack shit about our so called "motherland"
Well, upon visiting China last month (when my brain was developed enough to copy things into my long term memory) this argument has been growing within me and now it's ready to present itself.

My brother actually made me think about this, and i know he wants to know my answer so.. if you're reading now, don't ask me again or i'll kill you.

The question is, what would life be like if i was born in China instead of US and how would i be today.
My initial response to him was - "What the hell? are you retarded? how do i even start computing this? are you asking me to think of every possible equation of things that i'll do if i was in china and then spit out an image of what i would be like now?"
Of course, my words weren't as pretty as that, but let's say those were my exact words! xD

Ok so where do i start? obviously i don't know the outcome of my 19yr old self born in China but i certainly don't regret being born in the US... lol... how can i regret something that i don't even have the choice of making? i'm sure my parents know that the US is a better place for a child to grow up in and that's why they came here, as did every other chinese immigrant parent out there.
Some people i know go like "oh, my life would be so much better if i was born in China" and before i ask them why, i ask myself why they think that. instead of getting an answer like "LOLS, JUST BECAUSE!" or "Well, i'm only guessing, but it's better than this shit hole"
Ok intelligent people, thank you for wasting my 5 seconds. but since you're my friends, i won't put those 5 seconds on your tab.

Let's imagine, what would life be like? Let me help you with this picture.
China = not a condom friendly nation, look at the population.
Lots of people = lots to college grads
lots of college grads = lots of competition on jobs
job competition = start off with low pay
low pay = Fail.

here is my predicted path in the US, lets start with where i am now
College education = higher pay than high school drop outs who can only go so far in life
Higher pay = advance in society
place in society = Win.

In my little (probably biased) depiction of two lives, any average person would probably choose the win version.
The thing is, things are hard to predict when you don't live it out. so why even comment or ask a question as complicated and retarded as that?
If you ask me, yes, i like the current lifestyle in china, it's pretty damn relaxing and i would go back there for vacation whenever i get a chance to but i don't think i'll ever settle there.
China right now is like the US during the industrial ages, everything is under construction and no one knows what it'll turn out like in 10 years.
I don't even know what to say anymore... you can't really think about this.

i would imagine ABCs going back to, lets say, Hong Kong and then comming back within a year and be like "OMGS HALP! LET ME BE A US CITIZEN AGAIN PLS!"
and then the US gov't goes "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

that was odd, but that's what i'd imagine it to be like, there are things that you are used to like the lifestyle that you've had since you were little and then changing that completely by emigrating to another country is a hard thing.
a few FOB people that i know tell me that US is such a better place once you get past all the crime, violence, racial problems, and a few flaws in the government. it's not so bad.

So, we've established that changing lifestyles completely is pointless.
The US gov't and some people are, pointless.

Here's my conclusion, thinking about this will be, pointless.

There are things that you don't know and you shouldn't try to understand, what you life WOULD be like and what your life WILL be, you can't change the past, the future is unknown, and you can't change who you are now. obviously, we have that small percentage that fit out of the general statistics but don't mind that at all.

Come to think of it, this entry was pretty pointless too,

HakoneDayDreamer, i stopped my math homework to write this? Pointless.
