V: Chinese vacation overview

Log start: 1:49pm January 27th 2009

This vacation was so amazing that i can't use my current knowledge of american vocabulary to describe it. So i won't try and describe it with fancy words and slowly explain my experience in China.

When i was little, and to be honest, up until the point i landed in Asia in December 24th 2009, i always had a lot of American pride, america this, america that and how we are so much better than the rest of the world. And don't get me wrong, i was totally ABC pride and was proud to be an asian AMERICAN living in AMERICA. I thought that 1st gen born Asian children in america were the best people ever. So much better that i even tried to seclude myself from other races, but that ended up horribly.

But when i landed in China, and when everyone looked more similar to me than the average white or black(quote from russel peters: "you're black, not african." me - sorry, it's harsh but it's true) and i was suddenly beaten down by my inner asian that was saying "Welcome home, bitch." My pro-america sense just totally disappeared as fast as the feeling you get when you suddenly look into the eyes of someone you like. It's an overwhelming feeling that you get when you get off the plane and suddenly stand in the middle of one of China's most busiest airports.

Until then, i didn't understand why all my asian friends who visited China wanted to go back, live there when they grow up, loved it so much. But now i understand, this need to be in your true home where you WANT to look like the people around you. Where you're happy that everyone finally matches your skin tone (SILENCE!! I KNOW I'M TANNED) and everyone speaks roughly the same language. It's totally, if you want to put it in my words, orgasmic.

Continued next day 10:54am
Status: Only class today starts at 2:20pm XD
Weather: Snowed when i slept, bit rainy now. Classes are still in session: Damn you Stony Brook.

Right, as i was saying, it's an experience that can't be explained by words, and you NEEDED to be there. There's just no other way. Suddenly what little American pride i had left went "TTYL, cya never!" or rather my chinese pride went "BAM BITCH, DON'T COME BACK, SUCKA"

I can't even explain how things are so much better there, i just can't do it. Rawr. the people are nicer, you dont get this "OMG A GROUP OF MIDDLE SCHOOL CHILDREN ARE RUNNING! WHAT DID THEY STEAL!? CALL THE COPS!"
When a group of schoolkids (you can tell by their uniform jackets) run by, they're smiling eating a popsicle stick (don't know if they stole it or not but if they're skipping (boys skip too apparently) by and smiling about whatever middle school kids think about (don't even let me comment on this)) then i really envy them.

I remember back in middle school where stupidity was probably one the highest of the New York school system's quality edumakation (they had to close the middle school down). People were walking around like they're gangster shit and i remember this one time where my friend Eric was approached in the park and eric being eric... raised one of these short guido idiots to the wall and threatened him, his "posse" ran in the other direction crying like little babies and the so called "leader" called for help.
But in China, these kids go hang out near the giant mall area eating cheap street stand foods smiling...
Try to understand me here, my record of speaking before i think is really high this past week according to my roomies.
Gangster wannabes vs. Happy children eating food.
Sorry, it's like McCain vs Obama there. Obama just can't be beat!

Every day, every hour, every second i was on that vacation, my chinese pride went +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 and my american pride went -5 -5 -5 -5. it was THAT serious. i'll never look at america the same way again, i'm sure many other people lost their hopes too.

The only bad thing about China of course, is their government. But that's not an issue there too if you have connections. and my uncle's uncle (yeah, chinese families are really large and i met my 5th cousin when i went back LOL) is a somewhat high judge in the Guangxi capital of Nanning.

Back on topic, i'm beginning to think that i'm bashing on America too much. Don't get me wrong, this country is AMAZING but China's growing economy combined with a few thousand years of genuine heritage can't be beat. if i were to rank my favorite countries ever, USA would be second because of it's amazing acheivements and has been my home (and probably will be my home) for a long time. China is just... WOW. you know!?!?

Many, many things are still in its trial stages in China. While america DOES currently seem to be more advanced and has had record breaking impacts on the world, it's slowly falling due to our "OMG LOLS WE'RE TEH AWESOME" mindset.

I don't know where i'll live in 30 years, i don't know what China will become in 30 years, nor do i know how many of Obama's promises will become reality. But let me tell you one thing. This vacation opened me up to a world outside of USA (because canada doesn't really count as a "foreign" country to the US) and showed me things that you had to see with your own eyes before you believe it.

I don't even have any more words... to describe it because i'm not an english major and i shouldn't even know 14 letter words to describe it. but let me try.

AMAZING.
